Goodbye ProtonPass, Welcome Apple’s Passwords App
Yes, a password manager app became essential for me after years of losing my 2FA codes (unlucky man). I discovered Bitwarden and decided to purchase the premium personal plan for just $1 a month. It worked great for a while, but eventually, I started experiencing login issues. After some time struggling with that, the Proton team introduced ProtonPass, which directly competed with Bitwarden in terms of features, pricing, and more. Since ProtonPass offered exactly what I needed, I decided to switch.
What did I like about ProtonPass?
- The overall
user experience
- Browser extensions
- Password generator with
2FA paste functionality
- Hide-my-email feature
- Linux
Support
Later on, they introduced new features like password monitoring. However, I decided to make a switch because my experience with verification codes on a Mac device was poor, or perhaps I wasn’t using it correctly. Then Apple released its own app, Passwords, and I was waiting for the macOS Sequoia update to see if it would offer an import feature. Guess what? It supports CSV imports, so transferring my passwords was easy after renaming a few columns.
Now, I don’t have to worry anymore. The app offers monitoring, categorization, and autofill features. Thank you, Apple!
